Song of the World

Hilla Stormbringer

Song of the World

Kindled in me, the Flame Eternal
Given the gift of minstrelsy
Stars in the heavens born of song
World in the darkness, shining, be!

Let there be made amidst the void
A place we will shape and dwell within
Heaven and earth and air and sea
Let the dawn of time begin

Sing now of air, the sky above
Province of eagles taking wing
Winds in the clouds that carry back
Tidings of every living thing

Sing now of twilight over all
Brightened with stars forever blest
Shaped from the Fire, silver, gold
Hope for the weary and oppressed

Sing now of trees that spread their leaves
Gathering wisdom o'er the years
Words without voice that all could tell
Watered with rainfall's loving tears

Sing now of earth of craft and loom
Silver and gold and jewels fair
Mason and carver, smith and forge
Guardian of all that labor there

Sing of the sea that never slumbers
Fountains of foam and waves and spray
Life-blood of the world, in your depths
Echoes of Music sing today

Kindled in me, the Flame Eternal
Given the gift of minstrelsy
Stars in the heavens born of song
World in the darkness, shining, be!
