Little Irish History Lesson

Siobhán an Einigh of Connacht

Little Irish History Lesson

Chorus: Draw your sword now and line up me ladies
Draw your sword for we fight upon the dawn
Say your prayers now and line up me ladies
Say your prayer for the peace that near come

Coming from the north lands the sea strong raiders
Oar steeds stark ‘gainst the morning tide
Connacht spears race to meet the shield storm
I stand fast to defend what’s mine!

Chorus:

Coming from the south lands the bands of Brian
Boru’s blades beat with our own
Battle for the border by our brothers
Beat them back! We stall the foe

Chorus:

Coming from the west lands the Connacht warcries
Cross the river to the cove
Keening through the clash our kings now call out
Calm your blades, we cede control.

Chorus:

Going to the east lands, march to Clontarf
Tara’s seat our lords do claim
Calling to the Norsemen, Leinster taunts us
Drive them out in Boru’s name!

Chorus:

All the isle screams with the skirl of swordsong
Neighbors, kinsman, brothers, all
Far across the waters face the future
Can we face the Norman’s call?

Chorus:
