Every Hawk Must Fly

Hilla Stormbringer

Every Hawk Must Fly

I’m reaching out and my wings ache
To feel the wind – I long to try
I must go or my heart will break
For every hawk must fly
Every hawk must fly

The singing wind, it calls to me
Its voice as fierce as battle-cry
Arise and seek your destiny
For every hawk must fly
Every hawk must fly

A fledgling is kept safe and warm
And in the rain is snug and dry
But now I long to ride the storm
For every hawk must fly
Every hawk must fly

I know where I am meant to be
And to my nest I bid goodbye
With every wing-beat I am free
For every hawk must fly
Every hawk must fly

Upon the wind where I belong
With outstretched wings I touch the sky
My wild heart filled with joyous song
For every hawk must fly
Every hawk must fly
