Chartreuse and sherry he stands on the screen
With great bulging eyeballs and grin so obscene,
Though he sings "I love you", and he sings "You love me",
Beware of the voice of the reptile Barney!


Where once Yankee Doodle went riding to town
To help our forefathers is all tumbled down
As the words "A-B-C" and the words "one-two-three"
Lure my kids away from our proud history.


The voice of the reptile is heard in the land,
And exactly too late we will all understand:
When what's now "I love you", and what's now "You love me"
In thirty-five years becomes "Vote for me!"
