Filk song to the tune of “Juice of the Vine”, from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Written: October 2023 First Performed: Bardic Madness XXV (November 4 2023), at the Post-Revelry Bardic Circle No fortune found, nor fate divine come close to topping the juice of the vine. With cheery crew, we sip and sway let’s tip the tankard and waste the day. [CHORUS] Reeraw! Well ye ken, our toils can wait for a time. We saw the folly of men who rather than revel repine. [CHORUS] The gift of song, the gift of life Is wasted on the spirit of strife. So fill your glass and join our frape, Get wasted on the sap of the grape. [CHORUS] Ambrosia that we've told was rare, Is easily found without a care. So come ye all, fair and true And drink your fill from dusk 'till noon. [CHORUS] As we respite, from life mundane The strongest comforts, do we attain For no greater salve, is there to find Than mead, cordial, spirit, and wine [CHORUS] From gentles new, to peers of old Heads unadorned, to crowns of gold Come gather all, neath starry night And with this drink, we forget our plight [CHORUS] Let love be found, among the grape For wine, does no better matchmaker make To meet, to dance, oh what luck! To drink, to sing, and then off to fu- (flustered, stumble into the chorus) [CHORUS] There is no strife, nor war so bleak That has the strength, to keep us from drink. We’ll drain the Flagon, raise the cup And fill it again, till we’ve had our sup. [CHORUS] Now raise ye glass, and drain the mug Then fill once more, till ye empty the jug We’ll sing and sway, with flowing bowl And in the small hours, to bed we will roll [CHORUS x2] |
