Scrolls

Tali Essen of the Isles

Our stocks of inks and paints and perg
Is falling every day
Now since the back log we did shirk
These scrolls are such a pain

If we stopped using gold leaf sheets
And used metallic paints
Exactly how much would the cheat
Lead to more complaints?

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

Put down paints and cross out sheets
GoAs, AoAs
We must get the list complete
Paints and perg,
so much work

Assign, research, and design
Til we’re over drawn
This is much too much for us!
The List is so far gone!

The Laurels and Pelicans
will soon be reassigned
This makes us feel quite
overwrought and totally resigned

How can we be faster scribes
We’re using Bristol Board
The Peers with gold we have bribed
But extensions they’ve ignored!

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

White work done with Gelly Rolls
Borders drawn in micron
Should we bribe the heralds bold?
Golden bribes, pity scribes!

Painting by the candlelight
Leaves our fingers numb!
This is much too much for us!
The List is so far gone!

We are only volunteers, in above our heads
Researching through our manuscripts on the interwebs
If we painted black and white, instead of color fair
Would the ridicule we’d gain be worth the time we’d spare?

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

Painting only in grey scale
Color rare
Never there
Making white the holy grail

Leaving holes in our scrolls
What could we be adding to, or subtracting from?
This is much too much for us!
The list is too far gone!

Looks like there’s no hope for us
We will not get caught up
If we switch to pre-print scrolls
That’s it for us, skip the fuss!

Are we doing well or poor
Our fingers are so numb
We can't just give up this chore
But at least we can do some

Based on "I Can't Do the Sum" from Babes in Toyland 1961
