A Breakfast Terza Rima

Ezra of the Cleftlands

The most important meal of the day,
must carbs and protein well combine
So the learnéd folk do say.

So often I do hear this line,
And heed it well when can be heeded.
A meal can healthy be, AND fine.

A bowl of oats or toast is needed,
Good carbs they are, we are aware.
And for the protein, eggs well kneaded.

But when the eggs to pan I pour--beware!!
O horror, look what I've forgot!
No lard, no oil... the butter isn't there!

Take heed, ye cooks, my pathway follow not.
No creamy omelet for me today.
It looks more like dry wooden rot.

All of this is, my friends, to say:
Do not forget thy oil.
The key it is to rightward start thy day.

Perhaps, henceforth... my eggs I ought to boil.
