The bramble branches brush your cheek,
The boughs will bend when the bold are meek Moonlight melts and mountains leave When searchers seek out Samhain Eve! Come with care to the witch’s cottage Pour her potions, taste her pottage Drink to the dregs, yea, drain your cup, And soon your soul is soaring up! The spiders’ spinnings sparkle bright A warp and weft of woven light The bats in the belfry bounce away To dance in the dark that closes day! Come with care… Mushrooms mark a mound on the plain Glowing, gleaming, glazed by rain Feel no fear of the Faerie Land But hold your head up, and give your hand! Come with care… Lofty lights are loosed on the breeze And fluttering flames will flirt with the trees The ground is gritty, grey and bare, And shifting shadows shape the air Come with care… You sought some silver on Samhain Night, And spoke a spell that sparkled bright You picked a path of peril and woe, Now give some gold and we’ll let you go! Come with care… |
