Willows wave over waters bright
& sing their song to the wind with a sigh & lift their leaves to the summer light That settles like silt from the soaring sky Rise and reach for the Rainbow’s Arc Holding Valhalla so high in the air A brilliant bridge so bright in the dark The staring stars must halt and stare Cherry trees are trimmed in pink Their petals patter like rain in the pond The apple orchards need no ink To write the riches of the rosy dawn Rise and reach for the Rainbow’s Arc Though far afield our feet may turn For hearth and home our hearts must bleed With love for lake and land we burn To see the soil whence sprang our seed Currents carve a curving trail The wayward waters seek a way As the rapids roam through the river’s vale The morning mist is swept away Rise and reach for the Rainbow’s Arc The willows wave and softly weep And songbirds sing like silver bells Green are the graves, and the grass is deep, And the shoreline shines like empty shells |
