Leaving on a Longship (filk)

Taliesin Wordweaver

(Filk of John Denver's Leaving On A Jet Plane)

All my ships are packed
I’m ready to go
I’m standing here outside your hall
I hate to wake you up to say farewell
But the tide is turning
Down by the shore
The thralls are waiting
Waving their oars
Already I’m so scurvy
I could die

So curse me and exile me
Tell me you won’t wait me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
Cuz I’m leaving on a longship
Don’t know if I’ll be home again
Oh Thane, I hate to go

There’s so many raids I’ve let you down
So many times I’ve sailed around
I vow this now, I will win you rings
Every town I raze I’ll raze for you
Every song I sing I’ll sing for you
When I come back I’ll bring you precious things

So curse me and exile me
Tell me you won’t wait me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
Cuz I’m leaving on a longship
Don’t know if I’ll be home again
Oh Thane, I hate to go

Now the day has come to flee you
One more time,
Let me beg you
Then close your eyes
So I can run away
Dream about the loot come
When I make for all the dumb
Stupid things I did that made you say

That you’d curse me and exile me
Tell me you won’t wait me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
Cuz I’m leaving on a longship
Don’t know if I’ll be home again
Oh Thane, I hate to go

But, I’m leaving on a long ship
Don’t know if I’ll be back again
Oh Thane, I hate to go
