Then a Boy

Ríoghnach nEachach

Then a boy, now a man
With a sword in his hand
Ever tall, ever proud has he stood
From his lips a sad smile
Brings a tear to his eyes
As the heavens break open once more

Then a man, now a boy
Small hands with small toys
Ever wanders and questions the world
From his lips a bright smile
Brings a tear to the eyes
Of a mother who knows far much more

Then a mother, now a girl
She spins and she whirls
Ever hopeful, ever singing so sweet
From her lips a bright song
Brings a smile to the eyes
Of a father who's seen so much more

Then a girl, and a man
All the world in their hands
All the terror and hope they hold dear
From their lips a loud cry
May bring tears from the eyes
Of the heavens, now broken once more
