Sunlight and Shadow

Belle de la Tour

Chorus:
Walk with me in sunlight, and walk with me in shadow
The honor of your company I ask you to bestow
I want to see you shine like fire, I want to hear you cheer
I want to hold your hand in mine through our remaining years

The fiercest rain feels warm as dew if you but hold my hand
The fiercest gale a gentle breeze if by your side I stand
The strength that flows between us when our hands are intertwined
Lifts us up to face full on the challenges we find

Chorus

The body that I wish to hold in sprightly dance of old
Reminds me of the statues of the Grecian heroes bold
But no statue could match your pace as we sway to a tune
The grace that takes my breath away beneath the shining moon

Chorus

Now beauty of the flesh is fine but like a leaf of spring
Does fade away as chill air blows and time does winter bring
But beauty that I find in thee is kept not on thy face
But deep within your eyes is found a mind I would embrace

Chorus

The sunlight gathers in your hair to be saved for darker days
Your smile and the warmth it brings embodies dappled rays
No matter how the wind may howl no matter chill or frost
With you around to be my sun the winter's finally lost

Chorus
