An Ode to the Sun

Belle de la Tour

The sunset shines it's brilliance along the cobbled way
As merchants draw their shutters on another successful day
Such brilliance laughs at exhaustion, a celebration of day's end
Promising the soft cloak of night is just around the bend
The embers of the fire echo the sunset's glow
But as sleep begins its reign to dark ash they will go
Yet as the dark would seem supreme a light begins to shine
Dawn weaves its way into the world with rays both soft and fine
The sweetness of the dawn's a balm for those who rise ahead
The sharpness of the full-shon sun will spear those still abed
