When I Move On

Niamh inghean Lachlainn

When I move on
I hope I leave behind good memories
If I don't, then I beg your pardon
My caution can make me seem aloof
And it hurts me so to think I brought another pain

I revel in being the music floating on the wind
I want you to notice and enjoy
I'll gladly take center stage if it is offered
But I shy away from demanding that attention
If you want to hear my song just ask
I don't want to impose

I'm constantly afraid that you don't like me
Or that you did, and I injured that affection
I hold out my hand, as I fear for its rejection
If you want my sure loyalty, then take my hand
But only if you want neverending support
I tend to give my all or none at all
I don't want to tarry where I'm not welcome
I want to think that you want me around
If you don't then I'll move on
