Duke Sir John

Lyrics: Charles Cedric Morton
Music: Delta Dawn
            by Helen Reddy

Duke Sir John, what's that armor you have on?
Could it be the scales of dragons that you've slain?
And did I hear them say, that they call you the Mad Celt
For fighting the Trimarians with Bear's old belt

When upon a great shield wall John did come
He counted them and made their sum
That's when he led the charge, but disappeared from sight
He had dove beneath the shields to start the fight

Once a huge man did challenge Duke Sir John
The difference in their heights went on and on
He looked him up and down, not a word to him was said
He ran right up that shield and struck him dead

At Fools War Two the lines he did approach
They thought for them to yield would be a hoax
But when it all was through, the showed no more disdain
For everyone of them were shortly slain
