The blade by fire and by stone made keen, The arm that works to gain in strength and skill, The soul in which no stain is ever seen, The intellect that serves a valiant will; All these and more, the measures of a knight Which aid him on the path to gain a crown, Yet lack the inspiration for his fight; It is not for himself he seeks renown. A lady fair and good, of virtue true, A hand e'er quick to help, a ready smile, A noble heart and wise, love ever new; All these, in her, do make his quest worthwhile. When such a queen inspires such a king, The kingdom that they bless, their praises sing! |
