Winter's Rise

Ríoghnach nEachach

[Winter Queen]
At dusk, upon a hush of wind
Beneath a faded sky
No colors more to torture me
No works of fire rise

(Faeries)
She speaks, she speaks
Our mother queen

[Winter Queen]
The yellows danced among the trees
The oranges, once, did prance
The last to fade was red without
A single backward glance

CHORUS: [both faeries and Winter Queen]
O let them die, O let them die
My children, never rest
Until the last of summer's light
[Winter Queen only]
Lay dead upon my breast

[Winter Queen]
So take the greens of living things
That grow up from the ground
And take the blues of summer lakes
And browns of earth unbound

(Faeries)
We fly, we fly
To your bidding

[Winter Queen]
Pull the hues and wash them out
Let emptiness come in
Fill the space with nothingness
And let all hearts be dimmed

CHORUS

[Winter Queen, spoken]
My name is Winter
My heart is ice
My fingers weave a tale
Of night that's come
On frozen wings
To drain the world to pale
