Her Muse

Ríoghnach Locha nEchaigh

Her muse is as fickle and flighty
As a deer of Artemis
Pursued by an earnest hunter
Who wishes only a kiss

CHORUS
Dance, dance O deer, for a while
Dance for her once more
Bring to her a wonderous tune
So that I may hear her words

Her muse strikes as quickly as lightning
Then fades away like the mist
No trap or snare can keep her
And all bolts and arrows shall miss

CHORUS

But sometimes, under a blue moon,
This deer of a muse may be tamed
Never for long, and never too soon
And only while close to the flame

CHORUS

Inspiration, a spark, is oft called
But this deer dances about a blaze
To tame her is no task for cowards
But requires a lover's soft gaze

CHORUS
