A Call to Action for Laurels

Ríoghnach Locha nEchaigh and Belle de la Tour

A crown of laurels is a heavy thing to bear
But wearing it shows that you deserve to be here
You strived hard for this, and now you do shine
The works of your labors are oh so divine
But in this, remember that you are the source
Your tireless efforts are what inspire these words

CHORUS
Do what you want, not what they will
For there is the pow'r of a peerage fulfilled
Before thrones you stand, recognized for your art
Let none of the others tell you how to stand apart

A crown of laurels is a heavy thing to bear
But wearing it shows that you are what you need to hear
Although enlightenment's yours to impart
Remember that you are what you need to start
Unto all others your beacon is bright
In doing what you will, you lead them by your light

CHORUS

A crown of laurels is a heavy thing to bear
But wearing it shows that you've come so far to get here
In service and research your actions have proved
That it's enough to let your passions lead you
Although it is tempting to give more than your share
The work you are already doing is more than fair

CHORUS
