Dietrich - ROP (Retired Olde Phart)

Mon, 2 Jan 2006
I have for a few years maintained a Midlands Army mailing list. This has simply been a list of email addresses in my address list for posting announcements. It's been particularly good for people who don't want to deal with list traffic and/or Yahoo!.

It got slagged a few months ago. I've got a hardcopy, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to fully update it. So, please pass this along to anyone you know who is interested in Midlands Army announcements, whether they fight or not. I will add their email address into that list. This list will not be published, will be used ONLY for Midlands Army emails, and will be used only by myself and/or the Army command staff.

Captain Dietrich von Andernach

Vargas - Commander

Fri, 31 Dec 2005

Unto the most “irreverent reverent” populace of the Midlands, do I, your humble commander of the Midlands army, Sir Rodrigo Vargas De’Leon, send greetings.

I hope this missive finds your larders full and your fires heartily stoked. Winter is upon us and the holidays have come and gone. So too has the battle season passed, but thoughts of war are far from forgotten. Why even as we relax and greet the fresh new season, our brother's and sisters in the great kingdoms of the South are grumbling, and I fear they will again be forced to reconcile differences in armed conflict. If invited, the Great Dragon of the Middle will spread her wings, and go to the aide of our kin.

As this possibility looms in the distance, it would be wise to begin to hone our skills, refresh our memories, and teach new fighters the skills of melee. As such, the first Midlands regional melee practice will be held on the Sunday after Twelfth night in Tree-Girts-Sea. (Check pale for time and location of event and practice site.) Also, if time and space permits (absolutely no guarantees) we’ll try to squeeze in a melee or two at Maidens.

Additionally, I plan on posting a schedule of melee practices for the next several months. If anyone is interested in hosting a practice, please contact me.

It is my honor and privilege to be in command of the midlands. I will do everything in my power to continue the traditions that My Brother’s Sir Galen and Sir Janos have laid before me. The challenge will not be easy, and therefore, I have asked two seasoned veterans to help with command. Please, give your congratulations or condolences to Tuge and Sabah. They’re excellent people and are going to make excellent CO’s. Please feel free to ask them questions, it’ll keep them on their toes! As an army, we have done well and received high praise from not only other units, but from his highness as well. It is my hopes that moving forward, we aim for nothing less.

In Service,
Vargas
