Ring of Iron

Lyrics: Torquil MacGillavrey

Chorus:
They all come seeking to prove their prowess,
They all come seeking show their honor,
They all come seeking with skill and sword to stand
And take the ring from the bearer's hand.
Verses:
I once went searching for fame unending -
Across the Midrealm, no luck I saw.
A ring of iron, given for skill at arms.
Of this I heard, and I then must own.

At Stormvale Inn was the ring first given,
For skill and prowess with rapier blade.
The first ring-bearer did offer challenge,
"Come take this ring from me if you can."

A challenge offered, a challenge taken.
The ring proved fickle in every hand.
A string of warriors who held the ring, and then
Passed to another that band of iron.

My time had come and I spoke the challenge,
I met the bearer with skill and sword.
I won the day and the ring he gave to me,
And welcomed me, brother of the ring.

So now I stand here, the new ring-bearer
To meet the challenge of all who come.
I know that one day my skill will fail me -
And on that day, the iron ring grows.
Final Chorus:
They all come seeking to prove their prowess,
They all come seeking show their honor,
They all come seeking with skill and sword to stand
And take the ring from the bearer's hand.
Come take this ring from me if you can.
