Ballad of Butterfly Bill

Lyrics: Aaron faheud Swiftrunner
Music: Ghost Riders in the Sky
            by Stan Jones

Chorus:
Flutter-kye-aye….Flutter-kye-aaaaaaay
Bad and bold and fortunate, he will save the day!
Verses:
Across far and deeping lands a rumor can be heard
Of a fierce defender of gentlest song bird.
He is no mighty dragon, although he owns the sky
I speak today of Lucky Bill the battle butterfly.

Something of a mystery from whence our hero came
Clad in pretty colors, seen across the plain.
No fear need a heroine take from the attack
Whenever battle happens, Lucky Bill has her back.

Not alone in danger will a songbird be
For Bill is right behind her smiling happily.
Sometimes war is dangerous, but he won’t regret it
Lucky Bill will smile and say, “Good work if you can get it!”

Ever since he escaped the safety of cocoon
Ever since he first howled at evil ‘neath the moon
Lucky Bill has fluttered the world near and far
Flapping wings and feelers and avoiding pickle jars.

On road or in the tavern, or waiting for the train
Songbird is protected by more than just a name.
If she is ambushed at night in the pass
Lucky Bill will always be covering her ...
